Favorite Experiences:
Fine Art Gallery Manager: Working with artists is my favorite thing to do. I laid out art work and hung it; managed the main email channel; drafted and sent out Constant Contact marketing emails; and photographed art.
Visual Merchandiser: Furniture chain hired me to do Visual Merchandising while I was a student at the Art Institute of Seattle for Interior Design. I worked between two stores. Designing spaces and decorating them is fun!
Design Consultant: Worked in the "hen house"! :) Sold interior fabrics by the yard; ordered special order fabrics by books likewise; designed pillows, draperies, booth seating covers, duvet covers; and chair cushions!
Other Work Experiences:
Coffee House: Sold espresso drinks and drip coffee to regulars and passers by; mixed custom beans; sold merchandise--espresso machines, coffee machines, beans, CDs, coffee culture necessities.
Clothing Retail: (Two different companies.) 1) High-end designer clothing in mountain ski resort town--I worked as the manager; did visual merchandising of clothing and jewelry; familiarized myself with designer brands and vintage pieces! 2) Women's professional suiting and office wear for professionals; did inventory; and received shipments.
Shoe Sales: (Three companies.) 1) Ergonomic footwear sales for men and women. 2) High fashion footwear at a reasonable price sales. 3) High-end designer footwear sales in ski resort town!
Catering: Walked around and served hors d'oeurves for upper class clientele in ski resort town; filled drinks for winery party.
Waiter: Pizza and pasta company sold delicious food: pizzas, pastas, salads, beer and wine.
Volunteer/Internship Experiences:
Gallery and Framing Sales: Took an internship to relieve owner for vacation! Learned framing sales and know-how of gallery workings.
Maine Historical Society: Internship for Photography: scanned in glass negatives and color-corrected them for the internet; photographed antiquated ship maps dating back to the 1400's for insurance purposes!
Portland History Docent: Victoria Mansion tours in the heart of the city. Exquisite interior design and craftsmanship by European artisans. Ruggles Morse was the original owner whose business was a hotelier in New Orleans. He summered in Portland, Maine and commissioned everything of the Victoria Mansion!
