Over a week ago a Greyhound bus excursion to Seattle landed me in Mt. Shasta, California. From there I visited a little nook of Weed, California for a few days. As of most recent I ended up in this historical town of Dunsmuir, California.
The bus gave us a 30 minute break at a gas station in Mt. Shasta. I grabbed some snacks and a bathroom break and sat on the curb. I saw the bus drive off. Later I ended up at the Black Bear Diner. You'll see peeps with large packs for hiking and traveling--some are train hoppers and some are not! I kept thinking in my head that my friend was going to pick me up after I had left a message but that never happened. I finally broke down crying.
A ride took me to Weed just north up the highway. She gave me food money and left me at a fast food restaurant. It seemed like a new road, at least some new development and it appeared to be low key.
I tried hitch-hiking my way north and I tried with my pleas on my blog. Nothing availed itself. So, I learned the Greyhound rides once a week on Fridays from Mt. Shasta. Not from Weed. But there was a local bus that would take me from Weed back to Mt. Shasta. And that is what I did!
In Mt. Shasta, Starbuck's rubbed me the wrong way...so I went to take a nap in the grass. An hour later I ended up at the diner before back at the bus stop. Not knowing what I was up to I ended back to the bus stop.
I found out there was the possibility of taking a train to Northern California/ Oregon. I think someone was trying to sell me on Oregon? But I am not into that! My goal was still Seattle by way of some leg on a train! I headed to Dunsmuir.
And Dunsmuir is where I am still at. It's a site to see. In a valley. Nestled between mountains. A river runs through it. As well as a railway. There is hiking and mountain biking? Waterfalls, and a cave.
