Nessie is the water monster that occupies the Loch Ness in Scotland. Some say the sea serpent is a myth but I say its a timid and shy creature! An account exists from 565 AD-- and sightings have continued since.
Lake Okanogan near Washington State's northern border to British Columbia, Canada similarly has accounts of a water monster or sea serpent. It's in Native American folklore. Its name is Ogopogo.
My guess is that they have access to an under water cavern along a hillside to hang out and rest in--as well, as the bottom of the waters.
Some say Loch Ness's Nessie is a plesiosaur. Ogopogo is definitely not an archaic freshwater fish called a sturgeon. There are sturgeon in the nearby Columbia River.
