Spring is here and I would encourage you to grow your own fruits and vegetables if you have the space! Food costs are going up and so is everything else! There are seed banks you can order from and Burpee.com is a good resource. Make sure it is not a GMO seed.
Teach your children in the garden and harvest with them! Cherry tomatoes are a favorite and so are sugar snap peas! Don't forget the strawberries! :)
If you don't have good soil then do a raised garden patch! And know this: steer manure is the best fertilizer for your garden! I suggest Steer-Gro! ZamZow's has a good fertilizer, too! (ZamZow's is a retailer in Boise, Idaho.)
Complimentary flowers to your vegetable garden: roses (don't plant thorned plants near other edibles! The ground may be cursed!), marigolds and pansies. These flowers' petals are edible...and so are dandelions!
To get inspired for a small space go look around at community garden plots! If you are going to use kitchen scraps for composting--do not use meats! This will attract rats! Talk to a tree arborist for some mulch to place around your plants and cut down on weed growth.
