At community college I had some of the best education--smaller classes with good information. I didn't know what I was doing. Studying Interior Design and taking a whole mess of electives. (I found out science was not my forte and I dropped a few of them in my college career!)
One science class I did enjoy was Plant Biology 120. In this class I learned the basics about plant structures and local flora--kinnickinnic being one of them! (I found the name entertaining...) Also, I learned that plants, and trees especially can root themselves by a branch falling to the ground! The node, located on the beginning of a steam of a leaf can grow roots. Similarly, you may know someone who grows house plants from cuttings put in a vase of water.
Another way to grow a plant from a cutting is to buy root growth hormone, cut a fresh, new growth and put the powder on the end of the cutting and plant in potting soil!
