Last Saturday the Bay Area Mercury News brought word that it was legal to force people into shelters if they were "unhoused"! Homeless camp sweeps are what they are doing. They are also saying this is all legal (to also ticket, arrest and take to jail those sleeping in public) and ruled by the Supreme Court as of "Saturday"! With/or without shelter assignment! (Most shelters you have to call ahead and place your name for a bed.)
This is annoying and very dangerous because a) the Supreme Court doesn't rule on Saturdays b) since when are homeless less than human?
Do we get a dwelling when disability money can't provide us with one? Shouldn't there be subsidized housing for the disabled that is safe, quiet, equipped as a real kitchen and bathroom? C'mon--take care of your people!
Investigate California for lying to its people, abusing the homeless and confiscating/hauling away its citizens belongings! (What is one to do when they haul away all your belongings and you don't have an income to replace the few things you need to survive?) The State of California is opposed to its original inhabitants and wants them to commit suicide by getting them into homelessness (drugs, faulty accounting, job-takeovers); making it very difficult to climb out of homelessness; and continually moving and confiscating their belongings. When you don't have anywhere to go...where do you go?
Why don't we offer subsidized housing for disabled persons?
Why do we have so many homeless?
Why do we blame the homeless instead of taking the time to sit down and talk with them to see what happened? They need lawyers!
Please see my posts about Community Centers to find out how you can help. We (the homeless) cannot climb out of homelessness until we have a stable environment to live and occupy!
