It's Spring...

I saw this flyer around town when I was around the 7th grade--they were looking for girls my age to play fastpitch! Ooo...What is that? Like softball, however, different. The ball is slightly smaller, where pitches come in around 60 mph? You can bunt, slap hit, or full swing and steal bases. I was in. I learned how to throw a ball like a pro! I played second base and pitcher. But, my favorite thing was turning double plays!

I played up until my senior year in high school. Other girls came and went and I was never really sure why. One coach had anger management issues but the other seemed just "friendly".

I moved away to came back to the Seattle area in 2014. When I learned one of the coaches had been put away for raping team players. I wasn't aware of it while I was on the team (from 7th grade to 12th grade (with a name change))--I just know that same coach invited some players over for hot tub time. Kind of creepy in retrospect. I was never invited.

My point is--who is doing the coaching? Who is volunteering? All volunteers, including parents, need background checks! Start paying your coaches and do regular background checks with fingerprinting! Back track and start today.
