Is The Bible The Rule Of Thumb?

Some may say if its not in the Bible then it is not okay. I disagree. I feel that the Bible is from ancient times--with knowledge of past, present and future! However, women are no longer are viewed as property. And what do I mean by this? I may be a little wrong in my statement --it depends on who's talking? I think women were hidden behind their men and were not acknowledged. Come on, we didn't get the right to vote until 1920 in the United States and I don't even know the social roles in the Middle East then or today! I think we can look to Malala on that!
