Government Regulations And Mental Health Grievances

First of all, no one claims to know what mental illness is really from...but I have reported on the pig pill that is vitamin supplements that worked for mad pigs and also schizophrenics! What frustrates me about medications available is that it is trial and error; and a bumpy road at that!

Across the Board: State to State

I have been in mental hospitals in Maine, Idaho, Washington and California...and here are my frustrations:

1. You have to go to the Emergency Room to be evaluated and admitted. You may not admit yourself. You have to be a danger to yourself or others to be admitted; severely delusional, suicidal or homicidal.

2. In the mental hospital, they teach you to use distractions such as journaling, listening to music, watching TV and socializing but often you are deprived of all these things! There is no TV in your room, and there is no music headsets available! Often times there is a TV room called a Day Room, but its mostly locked up because they say the patients need supervision from personnel and they don't schedule for it! (Hint: Get a volunteer!)

3. Most of the time the patients stare at the wall in boredom! (And they take away your electronics including your cell phone!)

4. Groups do happen.
