The second year in official celebration is Juneteenth!

When: Wednesday, June 19th, 2024

Juneteenth is emancipation day for black people in America. They originally came by slave ships from Africa where their brethren sold them into slavery to white Europeans who in turn sold to colonists in America. (Uproar!) Early America became divided about the issue of slavery and there then became the Civil War--the North against the South where the South wanted to keep slavery and the North wanted to abolish it! You see, there always have been white supporters of black people in the United States and the North's stance on this issue is obvious. I saw something online that stated "keep Juneteenth black" and I find this offensive! There are people of all kinds that want to help celebrate the end to slavery in the United States, including me.

So what should we do? Will we all be accepted if we attend a Juneteenth event? I don't know...what do I want to do? Ideally, a church barbeque sounds nice! With some black musicians playing in the background while we observe newspaper articles and occurrences from across the United States of heinous crimes against blacks! Let it be known of what has occurred--hopefully, we have evolved for the better and can learn from our ignorances. Towards the end of the display I want to see success stories on black persons and businesses that could use support from the community!
