Dear Old Kitty,

Dear Old Kitty you filled my life with joy! I loved you from the moment I saw you. A woman returned you to the shelter; saw me and said "Here you take him!" I was delighted to take you home with the kitten I had already chosen. I got two kittens for one!

You purred every time you got picked up--like an engine to my heart's content. You were adventurous. I rescued you from a tree top with a barking dog down below in the neighbor's yard. You roamed the fence tops, you journeyed the neighborhood and you were a hunter at best--bringing an earthworm, a gardener snake and a few chipmunks to the back door!

My darling Old Kitty later in life I kept you inside. We lived in a condominium with little time for outside! We danced in the living room to some of my favorite tunes. You slept at the foot of my bed but not before a good night snuggle. You laid with me while I watched television. And my favorite is laying cheek to cheek in the last while of your time with me!

How I will never for get your face or how you were oh so sweet to me. One of my many challenges was letting you go. When that time was near some of the last breaths were taken on my chest while I layed there. I cried so hard the first time you stumbled and fell into the water bowl.

And when I knew you were leaving me...I rushed you to the car as if there was anything a vet could do. I held you the best way I knew how, but I am sorry your final breath was not with me. I set you in the carrier and unfortunately missed you slip away.

I love you and I hope to see you in heaven!

On my ex-husband's birthday I decided to go adopt a kitten. I went to the no-kill shelter in Hailey, Idaho. They had a kennel full of multiple litters. I stepped inside, watched and there was none I wanted. Until I turned around and peered behind a pole. There she was --the smallest all black kitten with little yellow round eyes. She was scrawny. I picked her up and said I will take her!--Please clean her poopy butt (for that I didn't care! (I would later take her to the veterinarian!)) She was the one for me.

Later in life she amazed me and cracked me up. I layed with her in the grass in the sun and petted her coat. The undercoat was brown and the top coat was a glossy black. But in the right light you could see patterning like an American Shorthair marbling! I was stunned and marveled at this sight! But I looked again and never saw it...

I call her my bookworm. I think she needed spectacles and a good book. She hated being picked up and was afraid of heights! She was content (so I thought) with just hanging out. She preferred the indoors and the cat cubby. After a while she got comfortable with laying on me but I remember her petite paws and peg legs that dug into me (lovingly) as she walker her heavy body across mine.

She liked her grains and I think she got kidney disease from this.

I lost them both within the last year and a half--how they will always be in my heart!

It is my wish for all those with loving pets to let them live to the end--it's better energy!
