Encountering Weed...

Since I have posted Destination: Weed; I have made it back by circumstances. I was trying to get to Seattle by bus. (The service needs mass improvements to say the least.) We stopped in Shasta for a half hour layover for about 50 passengers (?). The stop was a gas station whirlwind. I used the bathroom and got some snacks. And missed the 30 minute mark--no warning bell, I just saw it drive off! I was stuck in Shasta--just south of Weed.

I had lunch at the Black Bear Diner and pondered whether my trip to Seattle was such a good idea? My phone displaced from me, no family phone numbers, or other communication--could I show up unannounced after so long? With no money and the need to do laundry? Unconditional love is what I would hope for but I am afraid for the most in my family that might be too much to ask--for I had escaped them for three years! They didn't appreciate me when I was around...

Now, I have learned people aren't what they seem to be! Not the gas station attendant, nor the homeless, nor the store clerk! We put on hats in our lives and who are we today? Who were we yesterday? Maybe there is a hat that comes and goes--like acting for example. Open your mouths people...talk to someone and make connections to enliven your soul! Forget your cell phone texting, forget your telepathy--be new school!--sound is the future!

I spent the evening the warm air of this volcanic mountain town napping on cement and periodically waking up. Getting up and down off my knees reminded me I desperately need a doctor. About a week ago I was trying to get to Seattle and stepping onto a train proved too much--my knee boasted a loud snap! I cried, it hurt, I bucked up and took a seat. I've been living a week with the pain and severe limping. I don't trust the medical community and social security took my health insurance away plus food stamps. I am left begging for food and transportation money--I have been so lucky with this so far. A big thank you to those who reach into your pockets and help those in need! May this come back to you ten-fold!

I had a passerby call 911 at wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, I was questioned by the ambulance personnel what made the situation an emergency at this hour rather than other. My response is this--it's none of your business, quit being a gatekeeper, and get me to a doctor! I was and am out of my living area! And I need medical attention! People operate at all hours of the day and night! Quit boycotting the homeless person and those who call for services in the evening hours! (Don't you get paid for graveyard shift wages!?) Somehow I convinced him. I needed to go tho the hospital. I did. They lied. I am dealing with heart failure and a broken tendon in my knee among other things. I mentioned cyanide testing to ambulance personnel because I look like a drug addict with all my skin impairments! And I was reprimanded for it by the ambulance employee! The hospital visit a sham. Discharged without transportation. And not even a social worker to help me in my situation--and lack of questions thereof.

I made a phone call in hopes to reach someone who might have the means to help--I left a message. The security guard told me since I was falling asleep during services and now in the waiting room this could be a problem. My response was I just (less than three minutes ago!) left a message with someone for a possible pick up and now you are hounding me? He backed off. And I waited for a response but I had none. Later that morning the security guard pointed me in the way of town and which way led to the woods.

I went toward town and fell asleep under a tree because it started raining. Later, I found myself outside of a church and asked for a ride to the diner of someone exiting the church. The diner was a zoo with backpackers, outdoor enthusiasts and what seemed to be townees. I wandered across the street to Burger King--the doors locked.

I sat on the sidewalk and broke down crying. A woman pulled up in her vehicle and inquired. She suggested Weed, stating this place was too expensive. I thought anywhere but here. Back to Weed. Wendy's was the spot and I see Weed has undergone some changes in the past recent years. I am excited to tour Weed if someone will give me the time...

Wendy's WiFi was down so I ended up across the street at McDonald's to make this post!

I will keep you posted...

P.S. No more hiking! Do you realize how dangerous it is? Don't become a victim!
