With the Ring of Fire all along the Western coastline of the United States we can expect to find volcano country. Where this really becomes apparent is around the town of Weed! Travel along and you'll take notice.
To the south of Weed is a number of conical mountains I determine are many volcanos (The Valley of Many Volcanoes (I call it!)). From mini to extra large and they scatter the landscape. Mount Shasta--a well known volcano is covered in snow. Even further south there were singed trees in the volcanic landscape--not a forest fire but burnt from the roots up.
Just to the north is beautiful grasslands surrounded by hills and mountains--but I would not graze here!--It is not edible!

A conical volcano along I-5...one of many in the landscape!

South of Mount Shasta along I-5 there are hotspots where the vegetation has died from the roots up!

A view of Mount Shasta looking southeast. The town of Weed is just to the south as well.

Beautiful landscape, but not graze-able! (To the north of Weed along I-5.)
