Coffee

I don't get it. I like a plain, simple, light coffee--bright, cheerful and slightly acidic. (Maybe that statement was more complicated than intended...) Lately, I have been having coffees with spicy flavors--like with cardamon. Not my favorite. That's your market, not mine.

Give me an old diner with my description above to satisfy my morning craving for a drip coffee with cream (real cream, not one ounce want-to-be's) and sugar.

I understand the difference. Occasionally, I like a cafe au lait; if I want more milk and want to sound a little fancy in the coffee shop. Sometimes a plain latte will suffice. And I miss the days I worked in the coffee shop and patrons would order a doppio con panna.

Where do we get off? Are coffee plantations demanding higher pay? I think not! Then, why are coffee prices soaring? How much can I pay for a $2.00 beverage? Some are charging 12 ounce coffees (drip) for upwards of $4.75 and some even $6.00--what gives?

We need a coffee revolution. And more coffee shops at that! People love to hang out in coffee shops and I think there could be plenty more of them. Your style is your style and your business is such that as well. If you have customers thinking it is better to pay more for your product then so be it? But I want simplicity. Strong caffeine, good cow's cream, and a normal sugar packet available!
