I thought the normal mark-up on products was two times the cost. But I am learning that is not the norm. Sometimes the mark-up can be five times or more! Just think about cable services, internet and cell services? Yes, you can argue there are cable line costs but once they are in place how much maintenance is needed?
This all leads me to the question...what should be the law on limiting mark-ups? Should a company or designer be limited to the mark-up on their genius? There is something to be said for creative genius and originality.
How much do you value your originality?
I personally would pay more for something made in USA.
Why? Because I know my money would be going towards an American product made by most likely an American who believes in keeping the money within the United States!
If we keep buying from overseas...our dollars go there. To their banks. And we lose that money. How many countries are importing American products? Are we getting a fair trade if we buy foreign products? No. We don't have much manufacturing in the United States--how could they possibly buy American-made products?
