What revolutionized fashion in the mid-19th century was the emergence of blue jeans. Everybody wanted them--men and women alike. Men wore white t-shirts and had a smoke; while women stopped wearing skirts and dresses!
What is surprising about this fashion revolution is that people got murdered for wearing blue jeans. They were seen as rebels! Who was this rebellion against and why? Was it easier to rape women walking along the streets when they wore something that could be pulled up or down so effortlessly? Now, we are fastened and buckled.
